David Manuel Santana Garcia, 36, of Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, United States has been arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department. He was charged with child cruelty, assault with a deadly weapon, unruly behavior on public transportation and battery on public transportation.
At 1:48 p.m. on September 5, 2021, Garcia assaulted Billy Brown‘s son, 12, on a public transit bus in Long Beach. It was an unprovoked attack, according to police.
That day, Brown was not on the bus with his son, who was on his way to visit his grandmother. According to the boy, while the bus stopped in the area of Atlantic Avenue and Carson Street in Los Angeles, Garcia picked him up and threw him on the other side of the bus before he eventually got off.
The teenager is now terrified of riding the bus, which he used to ride to school every day, according to his father, who is upset that no one on the bus tried to intervene. The father told ABC 7, “This guy just started hitting my son in the head like he was on UFC or something.”
At around 1:12 p.m. on September 8, 2021, Garcia was arrested in the area of Atlantic Avenue and San Antonio Drive in Long Beach. His bail was set at $100,000.
