4. From 1968 to 1971, he attended Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach.
5. On July 31, 1974, he allegedly fatally stabbed U.S. Marine Corps veteran Christy Ellen Bryant, 22, while she was working alone at a 7-Eleven store in National City, California. The store was later replaced by a Domino’s Pizza restaurant.
6. A blood sample from the suspect was collected at the scene where Bryant was killed on July 31, 1974 but at the time, deoxyribonucleic acid was not commonly used in criminal cases. When the blood was entered into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), it did not turn up any hits. The California Department of Justice’s Bureau of Forensic Services conducted familial DNA searches on the suspect’s DNA in 2012, 2015 and 2016 and eventually, he was identified as the suspect.
