Aspiring doctor Jelani “J.J.” Day of Danville, Illinois, United States has died. He was 25.
Day lived in an off-campus apartment in Bloomington, Illinois while pursuing his master’s degree in speech pathology at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. He was last in touch with his family in Danville on August 23, 2021.
On August 24, 2021, Day went to the Beyond/Hello cannabis dispensary off of Veteran’s Parkway in Bloomington. He was driving a white 2010 Chrysler 300.
On August 25, 2021, Day was reported missing. On August 26 2021, his white 2010 Chrysler 300 was found abandoned with no license plates in a wooded area in Peru, Illinois.
On September 4, 2021, a body was found floating in the Illinois River. On September 23, 2021, the coroner of LaSalle County, Illinois confirmed that the body was his.
The cause of Day’s death has yet to be confirmed. He is one of the several American who went missing amid the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in 2021 and was later found dead.
Aspiring travel blogger Gabrielle “Gabby” Petito of Blue Point, Suffolk County, New York, USA was reported missing on September 11, 2021. On September 15, 2021, her boyfriend Brian Laundrie of North Port, Florida, USA was named a person of interest in the investigation of her disappearance.
On September 17, 2021, Laundrie was reported missing. On September 19, 2021, Petito’s body was found at the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping Area in the Bridger-Teton National Forest on the east boundary of Grand Teton National Park in Teton County, Wyoming, USA
On September 21, 2021, a coroner made an initial determination that Petito died by homicide. She was 22.
Laundrie is 23. He is still missing.
