Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, 27, of the Philippines and Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi, 28, of South Africa will co-host the Miss South Africa 2021 coronation night. They will be joined by Nico Panagio, 48, and Anele Mdoda, 37.
Hailing from Tsolo, Eastern Cape, Tunzi was crowned Miss South Africa 2019 at the Sun Arena at Time Square in Pretoria, South Africa on August 9, 2019. She was crowned Miss Universe 2019 by Gray at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, United States on December 8, 2019.
Gray represent the Philippines at Miss World 2016 at the MGM National Harbon in Oxon Hill, Maryland, USA on December 18, 2016 and finished in the Top 5. On December 17, 2018, she was crowned Miss Universe 2018 by Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel Peters, 26, of South Africa at the Impact Arena in Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi, Thailand.
To be aired live on M-Net, DStv and Mzansi Magic, the Miss South Africa 2021 coronation night will take place at the Grand West Arena in Sun International, Cape Town, South Africa on October 16, 2021. It will be the 63rd edition of the national beauty pageant that selects South Africa’s Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss Supranational candidates.
From 30 semifinalists, 10 were selected as the finalists who will battle it out during the coronation night. The oldest finalists are Kgothatso Dithebe, 26, of Centurion, Gauteng and Zimi Mabunzi, 26, of King William’s Town, Eastern Cape.
Bianca Bezuidenhout, 22, of Strand, Western Cape and Tiffany Francis, 22, of Mulbarton, Gauteng are the youngest finalists. The other finalists are Catherine Groenewald, 23, Constantia, Western Cape, Cheneil Hartzenberg, 24, of Meredale, Gauteng, Moratwe Masima, 24, of Atholl, Gauteng, Lalela Mswane, 24, of Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, Jeanni Mulder, 24, of Sea Point, Western Cape, and Kaylan Matthews, 25, of Port Elizabeth, Easter Cape.
Unlike other national beauty pageants in other countries, Miss South Africa does not automatically decide the international beauty pageants the winners will compete in. The announcement is usually made weeks after the coronation night.
Reigning Miss South Africa 2020 Shudufhadzo Musida, 25, of Ha-Masia, Limpopo will represent South Africa at Miss World 2021 at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico on December 16, 2021. Her runner-up Thato Mosehle, 26, of Stilfontein, North West became Miss Supranational 2021 second runner-up at the Strzelecki Park Amphitheater in Nowy Sącz, Małopolska, Poland on August 21, 2021.
It was Miss South Africa 2020 second runner-up Natasha Joubert, 24, of Centurion who represent South Africa at Miss Universe 2020 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, USA on May 16, 2021. She was unplaced.
