Caitlyn Vogel, 21, of Minot, North Dakota, United States almost won Miss USA 2021. She was the first runner-up of the 70th edition of the national beauty pageant that selects the Miss Universe candidate of the U.S.
Hosted by Zuri Hall, Patrick Ta and Nicole Adamo, the Miss USA 2021 coronation night took place at the Paradise Cove Theater of the River Spirit Casino Resort in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA on November 29, 2021. Including Vogel, 51 candidates competed for the crown.
It was Ellen Elizabeth ‘Elle” Smith, 23, of Germantown, Kentucky, USA who won the title. Ashley Carino, 27, of Kissimmee, Florida, USA was second runner-up and Sydni Bennett, 20, of Algonquin, Illinois, USA was third runner-up.
Born and raised in Minot, North Dakota, Vogel comes from a family of six and an extended family of more than 50. She has a cousin and best friends with disability.
When Vogel was a senior in high school, she founded a nonprofit organization called Limitless. Through the organization, she hosts an annual fashion show that provides one-on-one friendships among differently-abled individuals and supports local businesses.
Vogel placed first in long jump in the 2018 State Track Meet in North Dakota. She was Miss North Dakota teen USA 2019 and runner-up to Miss Teen USA 2019 Kaliegh Garris of Connecticut.
On April 25, 2021, Vogel competed against nine other Miss North Dakota USA 2021 candidates and won the title. She is currently obtaining her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Minot State University.
