Belize is the country with the lowest population and population destiny in Central America. The country borders Mexico to the north, the Caribbean Sea to the east and Guatemala to the south.

On September 21, 1981, Belize achieved its independence from the United Kingdom. Currently, Belize is the only mainland Central American country that is a Commonwealth realm with Queen Elizabeth II as its monarch and head of state represented by a governor general.

Froyla Tzalam is the incumbent and third governor general of Belize. She assumed office on May 27, 2021.
