The Republic of Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in Southeast Africa. It is bordered by Zambia to the north, Mozambique to the east, Botswana to the southwest and South Africa to the south.
Zimbabwe declared its independence from the United Kingdom on November 11, 1965 and became a self-declared republic named Rhodesia on March 2, 1970. Its independence as Zimbabwe was officially recognized on April 18, 1980.
Emmerson Mnangagwa, 79, is the incumbent and third president of Zimbabwe. He assumed office on November 24, 2017.
