Philippines’ Rolando Dy: BRAVE CF has integrity, professionalism

BRAVE CF 56” marks the seventh fight of Rolando “The Incredible” Dy, 30, of the Philippines in the Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion BRAVE Combat Federation. It will be his 27th professional MMA fight.

Aside from BRAVE CF, Dy has competed in several other promotions including the Ultimate Fighting Championship and UAE Warriors. I asked him, “For you, what makes BRAVE CF different from other promotions where you previously fought?”

“BRAVE CF has integrity and professionalism,” Dy told me. “It is also giving a competitive purse to its fighters.”

Dy’s fans know him as a veteran MMA fighter and a legendary boxer’s son so I asked him what other things does he want his fans to know about him. He simply replied, “My hunger to elevate my game to become a world champion again.”

As an MMA fighter, Dy has been competing professionally since 2011. His father Rolando “Bad Boy from Dadiangas” Navarrete, 64, is a former World Boxing Council World super featherweight title holder.

On May 6, 2019, Dy became the UAE Warriors Featherweight Champion, a title he lost to Do Gyeom Lee, 31, of South Korea on October 18, 2019. The Filipino fighter returned to BRAVE CF after losing the title.

Dy is coming out of a corner stoppage loss to Kubanychbek Abdisalam Uulu, 27, of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan at “BRAVE CF 47: Asian Domination” at the Arad Fort, Bahrain on March 11, 2021. The loss downgraded the Filipino fighter’s professional MMA record to 14 wins, 10 losses, 1 draw and 1 No Contest.

On December 18, 2021, Dy and Slobodan “Limp” Maksimović, 32, of Serbia will headline “BRAVE CF 56” at the BelExpo Centar in Belgrade, Serbia. They will battle it out in the lightweight division.

Maksimović is a BRAVE CF debutante. He holds a professional MMA record of 17 wins, 6 losses and 1 draw.
