Romania is a country in Eastern Europe. The country borders Ukraine to the north, Moldova to the east, Hungary to the west, the Black Sea to the southeast, Serbia to the southwest and Bulgaria to the south.

On December 14, 1955, Romania was admitted to the United Nations. In 2009, the International Monetary Fund bailed out the country as an aftershock of the Great Recession in Europe.

Klaus Iohannis, 62, is the incumbent and fifth president of Romania. He assumed office on December 21, 2014 and was reelected on November 10, 2019.
