The Republic of San Marino is a landlocked country in Southern Europe and the smallest republic in the world. Located on the northeastern side of the Apennine Mountains, the country is enclaved by Italy.

On March 2, 1992, San Marino was admitted to the United Nations. The country was the smallest country to earn a medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics, which was held in Japan in 2021.

Francesco Mussoni, 50, and Giacomo Simoncini, 27, are the incumbent and captains regent of San Marino. They assumed office on October 1, 2021.
