Bob Saget biography: 13 things about actor born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania


Robert Lane Saget was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States to a Jewish family. His father Benjamin Saget was a supermarket executive while his mother Rosalyn “Dolly” Comer Saget was a hospital administrator.

Benjamin died from complications of congestive heart failure in 2007 and Dolly died of abdominal cancer in 2014. Their daughters Andrea Saget and Gay Saget died of aneurysm at age 34 and of scleroderma at age 47, respectively.

As an actor, a stand-up comedian and a television host, Robert was known as Bob Saget. Here are 13 more things about him:


  1. He spent his childhood in Encino, Los Angeles, California, USA before moving to back to Philadelphia. In 1975, he graduated from Abington Senior High School in Abington, Pennsylvania.
  2. In 1977, he wrote and directed the short documentary film “Through Adam’s Eyes.” In 1978, he graduated from the film school of Temple University in Philadelphia.
  3. From 1982 to 1997, he was married to Sherri Kramer. She gave birth to their twin daughters Aubrey Saget and Lara Melanie Saget in 1987 and their youngest daughter Jennifer Belle Saget in 1992.
  4. From 1987 to 1995, he played Danny Tanner in “Full House.”
  5. From 1989 to 1997, he hosted “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”
  6. From 2001 to 2002, he played Matt Stewart in “Raising Dad.”
  7. From 2005 to 2014, he served as the voice of future Ted Mosby, who narrated “How I Met Your Mother.” In 2014, he released his book “Dirty Daddy.”
  8. From 2006 to 2008, he hosted “1 vs. 100.”
  9. From 2015 to 2016, he played Ronnie in “Grandfathered.” He met Kelly Rizzo in 2016 and married her in Santa Monica, California in 2018.
