Jose Angel “Capo” Chapa-Aguilera, 23, of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, United States has been arrested. He is charged with one count of first-degree assault with great bodily harm and one count of kidnapping to commit great bodily harm or terrorize. 

Chapa-Aguilera is the boyfriend of Melanie Fay Marcin-Sixtos, 22, of Crystal, Minnesota. She and Michell Gamino-Alvarado, 21, of Eagan, Minnesota are both charged with one count of aiding and abetting first-degree assault and one count of aiding and abetting kidnapping.

On December 20, 2021, a man picked up Marcin-Sixtos and Gamino-Alvarado and drove them to a house on Ronald Place in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. He was friends with Gamino-Alvarado, who told him she had been kicked out of her house.

When the three entered the house, the man was confronted by Chapa-Aguilera, who was already inside. The two women neither intervened nor helped the victim, who was robbed, beaten and tortured by Chapa-Aguilera for several hours.

While held captive, the victim was bound, threatened with a gun, beaten with a metal pipe and burnt with hot knives. He was locked into a crawl space under the house and managed to escape and ask for help from a nearby house on December 21, 2021.

On December 23, 2021, Marcin-Santos was arrested and booked into the Hennepin County Jail in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On December 27, 2021, she posting a $30,000 bail and was released from custody.

On December 28, 2021, Gamino-Alvarado was arrested and booked into the Hennepin County Jail. On December 30, 2021, she posted a $30,000 bail and was released from custody.

On January 7, 2022, the Brooklyn Park Police Department arrested Chapa-Aguilera after a short pursuit on Interstate 94 near Brooklyn Park. He was booked into the Brooklyn Park Jail in Brooklyn Park.
