‘The Crown’ Season 5 update: Pakistan’s Humayun Saeed to play Dr. Hasnat Khan

Netflix will release “The Crown” Season 5 in November 2022. In the cast is Humayun Saeed, 50, of Pakistan.

Produced for Netflix by Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures Television, “The Crown” was created by Peter Morgan, 58, of England. He wrote “The Queen,” the 2006 biographical drama film the series was developed from.


Who is Humayun Saeed?

Born in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan, Saeed worked as a general manager at a garments factory before pursuing a career as an actor and a producer. Released on February 26, 1999, “Inteha” marked his film debut.

Amid the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic from 2020 to 2021, Saeed competed in “Jeeto Pakistan League.” On March 23, 2021, he received the Pride of Performance award from Pakistan’s 13th president Arif Alvi, 72.


Saeed will play Dr. Hasnat Khan, 63, of Pakistan in “The Crown” Season 5. The story of the new season will focus on the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, 95, in the early 1990s.

Queen Elizabeth II is played by Imelda Staunton, 66, of England. Among Khan and Staunton’s co-stars are Jonathan Pryce, 74, of Wales as the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh; Lesley Manville, 65, of England as the late Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon; Elizabeth Debicki, 31, of Australia as the late Diana, Princess of Wales and Jonny Lee Miller, 49, of England as John Major, 78, who served as the prime minister of the United Kingdom from November 28, 1990 to May 2, 1997.


Who is Dr. Hasnat Khan?

Khan is a heart and lung surgeon. Born in Jhelum, Punjab, Pakistan, he is the eldest of four children and a distant cousin of Imran Khan, 69, who assumed office as the 22nd prime minister of Pakistan on August 18, 2018.

From 1995 to 1996, Hasnat served at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, England. From 1995 to 1997, he was romantically involved with Princess Diana.

In June 1997, Hasnat ended his relationship with Princess Diana, who died on August 31, 1997 in a car crash in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris, France while the driver was fleeing the paparazzi. He attended her funeral ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London in September 1997.

In May 2006, Hasnat married Hadia Sher Ali, 42, in Pakistan. In July 2008, they filed an application for divorce in the local arbitration council of Islamabad, Pakistan.
