Paramount Pictures theatrically released “Scream 5” in the United States on January 14, 2022. It is the fifth installment of the “Scream” film series.

“Scream 5” was written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick and directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. It was filmed in Wilmington, New Hanover, North Carolina, USA from September 23, 2020 to November 17, 2020.

Principal photography was supposed to begin in May 2020 in Wilmington. However, it was delayed because of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Wilmington is the county seat of New Hanover County. Bill Saffo has been the mayor of the port city since 2006, which is 10 years after the first “Scream” film was released.
