Jerry Edward Laroe, 34, of Paragould, Greene County, Arkansas, United States has been arrested. He was charged with false imprisonment in the first degree, battery in the first degree, aggravated assault, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and three counts of terroristic threatening.

On January 20, 2022, the Paragould Police Department received a call about a woman being held against her will at a house in Paragould. Witnesses told officers from the department’s criminal division that the woman had been held inside the house over several hours.

According to the witnesses, Laroe had threatened to kill the woman and two other occupants in the house. When the officers entered the house, they found the woman tied up and assaulted and they also found meth and drug paraphernalia.

The woman was taken to a hospital. Laroe was arrested that day and booked into the Greene County Jail in Paragould without bond.

Paragould is the county seat of Greene County. The city’s name is a combination of the last names of competing railroad magnates J. W. Paramore and Jay Gould.

On January 1, 2021, Josh Agee took office as the mayor of Paragould. Professionally known as Marko Stunt, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) wrestler Noah Nelms, 25, was born in the city.
