Carlos “Black Jag” Ulberg, 31, of Auckland, New Zealand was one of the winners at “UFC 271.” It was his first victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Featuring 14 mixed martial marts matches, “UFC 271” was held at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, United States. In the sixth bout of the evening, Ulberg fought Fabio “The Water Buffalo” Cherant, 27, of Wrentham, Massachusetts, USA in the light heavyweight division.

After three five-minute rounds, the light heavyweight contest has left in the hands of the three judges, who all scored it 30-27. In the end, referee Dan Miragliotta raised the hand of Ulberg, who was declared as the winner via unanimous decision.
The victory improved Ulberg’s professional MMA record to 4 wins and 1 loss. On the other hand, Cherant now has 7 wins and 4 losses.
“UFC 271” was headlined by UFC Middleweight Champion Israel “The Last Stylebender” Adesanya, 31, of New Zealand and Nigeria and his challenger Robert “The Reaper” Whittaker, 31,of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
Training at City Kickboxing in Auckland, Ulberg made his professional MMA debut on August 126, 2011. He defeated his fellow Aucklander Kaota Puna via technical knockout at “King of the Door: Submission 2” in Auckland.
After going on hiatus from 2012 to 2017, Ulberg made a comeback on December 8, 2018 and defeated John Martin Fraser, 29, of Wales, Swansea via unanimous decision at “Eternal MMA 40” in Perth, Australia. Ulberg went on hiatus again in 2019.
On November 4, 2020, Ulberg knocked out Bruno Oliveira, 37, of Sal Paulo, Brazil at “Dana White’s Contender Series” Contender Series 2020 Week 8 at the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada, USA. When Ulberg made his UFC debut at “UFC 259” at the UFC Apex on March 6, 2021, he was knocked out by Kennedy “African Savage” Nzechukwu, 29, of Dallas, Texas.

Ulberg is of German, Māori and Samoan descent. In 1994, he started living with a foster family in Auckland.
Before becoming a UFC fighter, Ulberg competed in rugby, boxing and kickboxing. As a kickboxer, he was King in the Ring‘s heavyweight champion in 2017 and cruiserweight champion in 2019.
Also in 2017, Ulberg competed in “Game Of Bros” Season 2. He competed again in the third season in 2018 along with boxer David Letele, 42, and MMA fighter Kai “Don’t Blink” Kara-France, 28, who are also both from Auckland.
