Anthony York, 20, of Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, United States was wanted for two warrants in Marion County, Indiana, United States that were issued in August 2021. On January 16, 2022, he allegedly fatally shot Da Tara Johnson, 28, of Indianapolis inside her apartment on Creek Way in Indianapolis.
For five days, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives worked with the U.S. Marshals and the Phoenix Police Department to investigate Johnson’s fatal shooting. On February 10, 2022, a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team arrested York in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.
York was charged with murder and carrying a handgun without a license. He is still in custody in Arizona.

In 202, Da Tara graduated from Beech Grove High School in Beech Grove, Indiana. In the same year, she moved into her first apartment on her own on Creek Way in Indianapolis.
Da Tara planned on going to college to study biology before her death. On February 25, 2022, her family held a domestic awareness march at Monument Circle in Indianapolis.
