Hamza “The Pride of Bahrain” Kooheji, 29, of Manama, Bahrain is ready to make history at “BRAVE CF 57“, the first BRAVE Combat Federation event in 2022. He is set to fight Brad “Superman” Katona, 30, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Featuring 12 professional mixed martial arts bouts and one amateur MMA fight, “BRAVE CF 57” will be held at the Khalifa Sports City Arena in Isa Town, Bahrain on March 11, 2022. In the main event of the evening, Kooheji and Katona will compete for the vacant BRAVE CF Bantamweight World Championship.
If Kooheji wins, he will be the first ever MMA world champion from Bahrain. During the “BRAVE CF 57” kick-off press conference at the Oasis Mall Juffair in Manama, Bahrain, he had the chance to go face-to-face with Katona.
“My name is Hamza,” Kooheji said. “I was named after one of the greatest warriors in history and Hamza means lion so to tell me about pressure, I don’t feel pressure. I only feel confident.”
Winning at “BRAVE CF 57” is very important for Kooheji. He said, “It’s the biggest fight of my career.”
“I take everything seriously,” the Bahraini MMA fighter continued. “From the moment I found out that I would be fighting for the title, I started running and immediately went to train. I am very motivated for this fight.”
Meanwhile, Katona seeks to punctuate his ongoing career resurgence by getting hold of the coveted BRAVE CF Bantamweight World Championship. He said, “I honestly feel great.”
“Like I said, I made a career out of this,” Katona continued. “It has hardened me as a fighter. I haven’t had the hometown advantage my entire career so I am used to this.”
