Jordan Jansen Van Rensburg was crowned Miss Teen Grand South Africa 2022 at Maslow Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa on March 26, 2022. She is from East Rand, Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, South Africa.
The Miss Teen Grand South Africa is a platform created for teenage girls aged 14-19 to influence and bring about positive change in their personal lives and young aspiring woman and communities all over South Africa. Van Rensburg accepted her crown in front of a roaring crowd of over 100 people, consisting of family members, friends, colleagues and well wishers.
“I’d like to thank God for the opportunity to witness this moment,” Van Rensburg said. “Cheers to everyone in this auditorium. This is one of the best moments of my life. I promise everyone. This is just the beginning of greater things.”
The Miss Teen Grand South Africa 2022 coronation night was hosted by former Mrs. South Africa finalist Trudy Zulu, who kept the crowd entertained all night with her amazing humor and cameras flashing trying to keep up with her enchanting outfit. The judges were Natalie Govender, Zanele Phakathi, Cindy Ross, Lungile Jiyane, Genive Trimble, Miss International South Africa 2018 Rambi Sechoaro, Miss Teenager South Africa finalist Sitha Mpako, Mrs. Africa Globe 2022 Gretha Garnett and Mpho Botha, the first Mister Teen World from Africa.
Befitting of such occasion, it was of significance that they invite an inspirational act like Tide Of Yul to grace the stage and deliver a performance of her latest offering “In the Fire” featuring Jemaine Roberts that has been recently circulating on radio networks, television channels and social media platforms. The Christian rapper was joined on stage by Gabby, the TV star who plays young Reyka on an MNET series.
As Miss Teen Grand South Africa 2022, Van Rensburg walked away with R10 000 in cash. She will represent South Africa at Miss Teen Grand Universe 2022 in October 2022 in Guatemala.
Runner-up to Van Rensburg was to Boitumelo Wilson, who will be heading to the Dominican Republic in September 2022 to pursue a modelling career. As the second runner-up, Zoalize JV Rensburg also walked away with a cash prize.
The newly crowned Miss Teen Grand South Africa 2022 has made it her mission to advocate for helpless abandoned and orphaned children who are unable to defend themselves. She said, “I plan to be the voice to the voiceless and help these kids to find homes.”
Organizers of the event kept the emphasis on how symbolic the title is to beauty queens and how it gives recognition to those who have made a difference in people’s lives through charitable works around their local communities as charity work is an integral part of the Miss Teen Grand ethos and part of the brief presented to each contender. The event was brought to a close, with an heartfelt speech by Miss Teen Grand South Africa director Yondela Sihlobo.
“I’d really like to thank the parents, mentors, staff and everyone that was involved in making the whole competition a success,” Sihlobo said. “It has been amazing witnessing the support provided by the team in ensuring a great journey for participants throughout the entire process. The buildup to this event has been phenomenal. The girls had the time of their lives and it was an honor to have them.”
