What Springville, Utah’s Christian Taele did to Spanish Fork’s Ryan Hooley, Ogden’s Tyler Belinti

Neither Ryan Hooley, 49, of Spanish Fork, Utah, United States nor Tyler Belinti, 23, of Ogden, Utah had a connection to Christian Francis Taele, 28, of Springville, Utah. On July 8, 2022, Taele allegedly killed Hooley and Belinti.

Taele is accused of beating up and fatally stabbing Hooley in a shopping center parking lot in Spanish Fork. Afterwards, the Springville man went to an apartment complex in Ogden where he allegedly killed Belinti.

After beating up Belinti, Taele allegedly used a rope from a piece of gym equipment to hang the Ogden man. On July 9, 2022, Taele was arrested in Ogden and charged with the attempted aggravated murder of Belinti.

Belinti had no brain activity and was removed from life support. After his death, the charge against Taele was updated to murder.

When asked about the two unprovoked murders, Taele told detectives that he was “directed by a higher power to purge the city.” He also said he felt no remorse for the killings.

On July 27, 2022, Taele was charged with one count of murder for the first-degree felony death of Hooley in Spanish Fork. While undergoing psychological evaluation, the Springville man is being held without bail in the Weber County Jail in Ogden.
