Colorado Springs’ Laura Voepel accused of calling Frontier Airlines passenger racial slur against Hispanics

Laura Lea Voepel, 45, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States was with her son Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, on July 31, 2022. That day, she allegedly called their fellow Frontier Airlines passenger Maria Martinez of Aurora, Colorado a derogatory term.

Voepel allegedly called Martinez a b—-r, a racist slur used against Hispanics, which led to a confrontation. Aldrich allegedly turned on a black male passenger who tried to de-escalate tensions.

“Shut the f— up, you f—— n—–,” Aldrich allegedly told the black passenger. As Voepel and Aldrich walked off the plane, they were confronted by Martinez.

“What makes me a b—-r?” Martinez asked Voepel. The Colorado Springs woman replied, “Shut up.”

“What makes me a b—-r?” Martinez asked Voepel again. A few seconds later, Aldrich told Martinez, “You keep following me and I’m going to f— you up.”

It is unknown whether or not Martinez filed a complaint against Voepel and Aldrich. The Frontier Airlines has yet to release a statement abut the incident.

Aldrich was born Nicholas Franklin Brink at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns in San Diego, California, USA to Voepel and Aaron Brink, 48, a professional mixed martial artist and adult film actor also known as Dick Delaware. On May 2, 2016, Nicholas legally changed his name to the one he is currently using.

Voepel’s father Randy Voepel, 72, became the mayor of Santee, California in 2000. He has been a California assemblyman since 2016.
