
Anthony Nicholas “Tony” Mattei, 59, of Fairview, Collin County, Texas, United States holds a Texas Educator Certificate that became effective May 6, 2022. From May 2018 to November 2020, he served as a member of the Fairview Town Council.
In July 2021, the Allen Independent School District hired Mattei as part of the district’s Career and Technical Education Program. He taught at Curtis Middle School in Allen.
Mattei allegedly inappropriately toughed a Curtis Middle School student on August 11, 2021 and on September 7, 2021. In April 2022, the Allen ISD was made aware of a complaint against the teacher, accusing him of misconduct involving a student, but he was allowed to return to the classroom.
On August 31, 2022, Mattei was arrested after being indicted on two counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact. His bond was set at $25,000 for each of the second-degree felony charges.
The Curtis Middle School teacher was booked into the Collin County Jail in McKinney, Collin County. The Allen ISD has confirmed that he is on administrative leave.
When Allen was incorporated in 1953, it was a small town of a few hundred residents. In 2020, the city’s population was more than 104,627.
“Blood & Treasure” actor Matt Bar, 38, former football wide receiver Uzoma Nwachukwu, 31, and National Football League player Christian Sam, 26, were born in Allen. Ken Fulk, 65, is the incumbent mayor of the city.
