Lawrence, Kansas’s Bruce Holloway Jr. accused of shooting Topeka High School alum Keith Gaylord Jr.

Keith K. Gaylord, Jr. of Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas, United States has died. He was 23.

In 2018, Gaylord graduated from Topeka High School in Topeka. On the morning of September 30, 2022, he and another person were shot at the Meadowlark Apartments in Topeka.

Gaylord was pronounced dead at the scene. American Medical Response ambulance took the other victim, who had non-life-threatening injuries, to a hospital in Topeka.


Bruce Holloway Jr., 20, of Lawrence, Douglas County, Kansas is accused of fatally shooting Gaylord. On the morning of October 1, 2022, the Lawrence resident was arrested.

Holloway was transported to the Shawnee County Department of Corrections in Topeka. He was charged with first-degree murder.


Topeka was founded in 1854 and incorporated in 1857. It is the capital city of Kansas and the seat of Shawnee County.

Actors Annette Bening, 64, Gregg Binkley, 59, and Brandon Adams, 43, were born in Kansas. The city is home to Washburn University and the Washburn Institute of Technology.
