Michigan’s Bryant Lamar Collins shoots 4 people at Cordele, Georgia restaurant

Bryant Lamar Collins, 42, of Michigan, United States opened fire at the 16 East Bar and Grill in Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia, USA at around 10:30 p.m. on October 22, 2022. Officers from the Cordele Police Department, the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol responded to the shooting.

Why Collins was in Cordele that night is still unknown. The Michigan man had to be identified by his fingerprints because he was not willing to cooperate with the officers.


Four people were wounded and were taken to Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele. One of the four victims has been released.

Authorities are still working to find a motive to the shooting. The names of the victims were not released.  

Collins has lived in different parts of Michigan including Detroit and Eastpointe. He has also lived in different parts of Ohio, USA including Fremont, Toledo and Marion.


Cordele is the county seat of Crisp County. The city is dubbed the Watermelon Capital of the World.

Incorporated on January 1, 1888, Cordele was named for Savannah, Americus and Montgomery Railway president Samuel Hawkins‘ eldest daughter Cordelia Hawkins. National Football League player Quay Walker, 22, retired sprinter Deworski Odom, 45, and the late 16th White House press secretary Jody Powell were all born in the city.
