Bronx, New York City’s Miguel Ramirez pushes German Sabio onto subway tracks

Miguel Ramirez, 35, of Woodstock, Bronx, New York City was caught on camera pacing back and forth on the train platform in the E. 149th St. station in Mott Haven, Bronx on the morning of October 15, 2022. At around 11:50 a.m., he followed German Sabio, 26, of New York City around the platform.

Ramirez and Sabio did not know each other. Sabio was awaiting a 6 train on the northbound platform and right as a train approached, he was shoved from behind onto subway tracks by Ramirez.


Before the train arrived, other straphangers rushed to help pull Sabio to safety while Ramirez fled the area. The train stopped within feet of rolling over Ramirez.

Sabio suffered minor injuries to both of his legs. He was transported to Jacobi Hospital in Morris Park, Bronx for treatment


At around 2:00 a.m. on October 18, 2022, Ramirez was arrested. He was charged with attempted murder, attempted assault and reckless endangerment.

Since Ramirez was a child, he has had mental health issues, according to his cousin, Jahmel Ragin, 30. Ramirez has struggled since childhood, Ragin added.

“He’s been in group homes since he was a kid,” Yahoo! News quoted Ragin as saying. “He was living with us and my grandmother was taking care of him but my grandmother passed away like a year ago.”
