Gabrielle Seitz of Shelby Township, Macomb County, Michigan, United States has died. She was 62.
A GoFundMe page was created for Seitz’s funeral. Her cause of death has yet to be officially determined.
On October 27, 2022, Stephen Lee Freeman, 19, of Michigan was driving when his truck got into a fender-bender at a stoplight in Roseville, Macomb County. He fled on foot while authorities searched his truck.
Around 30 minutes after the traffic accident, Seitz’s body was found in the bed of Freeman’s truck. A shoelace was found around her neck, which showed obvious signs of strangulation.
According to Seitz’s oldest son Justin Omans, she did not know Freeman. He told Click on Detroit, “You know my mom.”
“You know she wouldn’t have some guy coming up to her place,” Omans continued. “She has two sons. I know people are saying something bad about my brother.”
“That needs to stop,” Omans added. “He’s not here. He’s in Saginaw somewhere.”
On October 30, 2022, Freeman was arrested. On November 1, 2022, he appeared in court before District Judge Alyia Marie Hakim and was arraigned on one count of concealing the death of an individual and one count of receiving and concealing stolen property.
Hakim set Freeman’s bond at $75,000 cash surety with global positioning system (GPS) tether monitoring if the money is posted. Freeman was represented by Kevin Smith, who requested a referral to community corrections.
According to Smith, Freeman is single, is currently unemployed, has no children, did not have a criminal history and had mental health issues. According to Macomb County assistant prosecutor Steve Fox, the teenager has a history of substance abuse.
