Birmingham, England’s Jake Hadley earns 1st UFC win, submits Carlos Candelario in Enterprise, Nevada

Jake “White Kong” Hadley, 26, of Birmingham, West Midlands, England was one of the winners at “UFC Fight Night 214“. It was the English mixed martial artist’s first victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Also known as “UFC on ESPN+ 72” and “UFC Vegas 64”, “UFC Fight Night 214” featured 11 bouts held at the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Las Vegas Valley, Clark County, Nevada, United States on November 5, 2022. In the second bout of the evening, Hadley fought Carlos “The Cannon” Candelario, 31, of New Britain, Connecticut, USA at a catch weight on 128.5 pounds.

Jason Herzog served as the referee of the catchweight contest. He stopped the fight after 2 minutes and 39 seconds in the second round.

Hadley submitted Candelario via triangle choke. It improved the Birmingham resident’s professional MMA record to 9 wins and 1 loss.

On the other hand, Candelario now has 8 wins and 3 losses. It is his second consecutive loss in the UFC excluding his split decision loss to Victor “El Magnifico” Altamirano, 31, of Fort Worth, Texas, USA in the first week of Dana White’s Contender Series 2021 on August 31, 2021.

In 2018, Hadley won his first three professional MMA wins in the Golden Ticket Fight Promotions. On September 27, 2019, he submitted Blaine O’Driscoll, 30, of Dublin, Leinster, Ireland at “Bellator 227“.

After submitting Mitch Raposo, 24, of Fall River, Massachusetts, USA via rear-naked choke on October 12, 2021 in the seventh week of Dana White’s Contender Series 2021, Hadley was awarded a UFC contract. When the English MMA fighter made his UFC debut at “UFC on ESPN 36“, he lost to Allan “Puro Osso” Nascimento, 31, of Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo, Brazil via unanimous decision.

“UFC Vegas 64” marked Hadley’s second UFC fight. Eight countries and territories were represented on the card namely Brazil, China, Denmark, England, Hong Kong, Russia, Ukraine and the U.S.
