James John Hall, 34, of Zephyrhills, Pasco County, Florida, United States is affiliated with the Republican Party of Florida. He registered to vote in Pasco County on April 29, 2016.
Inside Hall’s residence in Zephyrhills, he allegedly built a pipe bomb and offered to sell it to a man he had sold firearms in the past. The former contacted the latter on November 1, 2022.
Unbeknownst to Hall, the man is a confidential informant with the Pasco Sheriff’s Office. After receiving information about the homemade pipe bomb, the sheriff’s office coordinated further investigation with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
On November 2, 2022, Hall met with the informant and a Pasco Sheriff’s Office detective acting undercover. The detective bought the pipe bomb for $800 and a Glock 17 pistol Hall offered by the Zephyrhills resident.
The informant and the undercover detective asked about future purchases. Hall told them he had enough to build six more.
The ATF found no records for Hall in the National Firearm Registration and Transfer Record. The bureau’s bomb technicians disassembled the suspected destructive device sold by Hall
Filled with suspected pyrotechnic powder, the device was sealed at both ends with end caps, the technicians discovered. A suspected pyrotechnic fuse was inserted into one of the end caps.
On November 9, 2022, ATF officials announced the arrest of Hall. He was charged with unlicensed distribution of explosive materials, possession of an unregistered destructive device and unlawful making of a destructive device.
