Kim Kardashian, 42, took to Instagram to share a photo of herself wearing Balenciaga and Adidas on November 21, 2022. Both brands, which recently collaborated, have severed their relationships with her former husband Kanye West, 45, after his anti-Semitic comments.
In the photo, Kardashian is wearing a silver Balenciaga turtleneck worth $1,350. She paired it with black and white shorts, both from the Balenciaga x Adidas collaboration, and thigh-high black Balenciaga boots worth $3,490.
Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition
On November 22, 2022, Balenciaga apologized in a series of Instagram posts for its recent campaign featuring child models holding teddy bears dressed in bondage gear. The campaign also included an image of a court document that has a reference to Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition, in which the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a portion of the Child Pornography Prevention Act (CPPA) of 1996 and said that virtual child pornography is protected speech.
Since Kardashian has yet to release a statement about Balenciaga, Candace Owens, 33, took to Instagram to give advice. Owens is friends with West, who is also known as Ye.
“Kim Kardashian, girl, I know, I just know, you’re gonna find that same energy that you found, that you and your sister Khloe found to write a tweet against your husband condemning anti-Semitism and all of its forms that copied and pasted the same rhetoric that you meant nothing when you pasted it,” Owens said. “But I know that since you found that energy to condemn that anti-Semitism, that you are gonna find the same energy, that same exact f-ing energy to stand up and to condemn Balenciaga because, girl, we know that you are desperate for fame. You sold your own body for it.”
Balenciaga parties, Anna Wintour
“We know that all you ever wanted in your life was to be invited to Balenciaga parties, to be invited to places that Anna Wintour are in but, but we know that at the same time, you gonna find a little bit of whatever soul you have left to take a strong stance against child pornography and pedophilia,” Owens told Kardashian. “Take a powerful stance by saying that you no longer rep this brand. It’s that easy.”
“A tweet will suffice,” Owens continued. “In fact, let me help you with the language. ‘I condemn child pornography and all of its forms and I no longer associate myself with Balenciaga, which just tried to pull the wool over society’s eyes by essentially saying that they are happy that laws were struck down against the Child Pornography Prevention Act because that’s what the Ashcroft decision was.'”
Deafening silence
While Kardashian is not to blame for the Balenciaga campaign in question, she should use her platform to speak against it, according to Owens. The conservative activist said to the brand’s ambassador, “I know you are just looking for the right words and that your silence and your recent posts draped in that exact same campaign is really you just sitting back trying to find the f-ing right words to say, that you will have nothing to do with this brand because otherwise, Kimmy, Kimmy, Kimmy, girl, if you don’t find that same f-ing energy that you found for Ye, the father of your children, to condemn him, to support your friends, you said, ‘I stand with my friends who are Jewish,’ why don’t we try a tweet that says ‘I stand with children all over the world that are being sex trafficked. I stand with every parent that has had to go through the trauma of having their children sexually trafficked or sexually abused.’?”
“Use that same energy, Kimmy, and put up a post and be done with Balenciaga and then I want you to reexamine yourself, okay?” Owens told Kardashian. “Because we know what you’re doing. We know that you will say whatever it takes, you will do whatever it takes to maintain your fame.”
“I want you to reexamine what it is that your ex-husband has been saying about what he believes his children is being exposed to because the fact that you are a part of this campaign, okay, this huge Balenciaga campaign, maybe you didn’t know, I’m not gonna put it on you but you sure as hell have known in the last 48 hours what’s going on and I think, as the lefts like to say, your silence is deafening,” Owens ended. “You, guys, are sick, twisted perverts in Hollywood but Kimmy, I’m gonna keep the faith alive that you are gonna do the right thing. Goodbye.”
