“The Warrior” Cian Cowley, 30, of Dublin, Ireland ha earned his fifth professional mixed martial arts win. He was one of the Irish MMA fighters who competed in Éire Fighting Championship‘s inaugural event.
Featuring four MMA bouts and two Muay Thai fights, “Éire FC 1” wa held at Red Cow in Dublin on December 2, 2022. One of the MMA matches was between Cowley and “Perigoso” Everton Toniazzo Jr., 35, of Sao Jose dos Pinhais, Parana, Brazil in the welterweight division.
The referee stopped the welterweight contest after 2 minutes and 10 seconds in the first round. Cowley was declared the winner via technical knockout via elbows.
Beating Toniazzo improved Cowley’s professional MMA record to 5 wins and 5 losses. On the other hand, the Brazilian MMA fighter now has 4 wins and losses.
Toniazzo replaced Cowley’s original “Éire FC 1” opponent Furqan Cheema, 32, of Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom. On November 25, 2022, Cheema had to pull out of the card for personal reasons.
Training out of Straight Blast Gym (SBG) Ireland in Dublin, Cowley made his professional MMA debut in 2017. Here is my short interview with him days after his “Éire FC 1” win:
CONAN ALTATIS: Congrats on your win at “Éire FC 1”. Your original opponent Furqan Cheema was replaced by Everton Toniazzo Jr. How did the change affect your preparation?
CIAN COWLEY: The opponent change was a complete switch in styles to what I had spent 8 weeks preparing but it was a welcomed challenge and it is a reason why I love MMA so much. You have to be ready to fight anyone at any time!
CA: Where did you train for this fight and who did you train with?
CW: The bulk of my training is done in SBG HQ in Dublin. I split my other sessions between Warriors Thai boxing and Crumlin Boxing Club.
CA: Can we expect you to join the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2023 or is there a possibility for you to return to BRAVE Combat Federation?
CW: I am open to whatever fights present themselves in 2023.
