Hale Center, Texas teacher Amy Gilly arrested, accused of having inappropriate relationship with minor

Amy Brigit Gilly, 46, of Floydada, Floyd County, Texas, United States taught at Hale Center High School in Hale Center, Hale County, Texas. Aside from Floydada, she has lived in other parts of Texas including Colton, Anna, Allen and Canyon.

After graduating from Floydada High School in Floydada, Gilly went to West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas to pursue a bachelor’s degree in art education. She earned her master’s degree in education at Texas A&M University-Commerce in Commerce, Texas.

Gilly is Craig Gilly and Trudi Gilly‘s daughter. After Craig passed away in 2006, Trudi continued to operate their business Module Cover Repair Service in Floydada, which was launched in 1998.

In 2013, Amy married her fellow Floydada High School alum Robert Eckert. In 2018, she started working as a Hale Center High School teacher.

On December 17, 2021, Eckert passed away. He was 45.

In November 2022, Amy stared communicating with a male student, 15. According to him, she fetched him from a Baptist church in Hale Center and drove him to East First Street in Hale Center and parked on the side of the tracks. 

Amy allegedly took her top off then kissed the boy. She groped his genitals outside his clothing, according to him.

On December 16, 2022, a Hale Center Police Department sergeant was dispatched to the Hale Center Independent School District business office. They started an investigation after receiving a report from school officials about Amy’s inappropriate relationship with the male student.

On December 20, 2022, Any was arrested and booked into the Hale County Detention Center in Hale Center. She was charged with one count of improper relationship between an educator and student and her bond was set at $20,000.
