Patrick Michael Kelly, 39, is a police officer from Cocoa, Brevard County, Florida, United States. On the evening of December 28, 2022, he went to a house on Framura Lane in Viera, Brevard County.
At 10:30 p.m. that night, Brevard County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the house in Viera. A woman in the house called for help saying that Kelly was threatening her and himself with a gun.
Authorities did not release the name of the woman and details about her relationship with Kelly. She was able to flee the house as the Cocoa Police Department officer barricaded himself inside.
The special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office was called to negotiate with Kelly. During the standoff, he fired his gun multiple times from inside the house but no one was hurt by the gunfire.
Just after 6:00 a.m. on December 29, 2022, Kelly was arrested. He was booked into the Brevard County Jail in Cocoa where he is being held without bail.
Later that morning, Kelly faced a judge and was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm in public. Upon his arrest, the Cocoa Police Department suspended him without pay.
