Tavon I. Harvey, 28, of Aberdeen, Harford County, Maryland, United States was recently booked into the Harford County Detention Center in the Bel Air North, Harford County. He is being held without bond.
In the early morning hours of December 30, 2022, Harvey allegedly sexually assaulted a woman, 50, in the unit block of North Law Street in Aberdeen. Shortly after, the Criminal Investigation Division and Crime Scene Processing Unit of the Aberdeen Police Department joined the investigation.
Later that day, officers arrested Harvey near the police department on Franklin Street in Aberdeen. According to the department, his alleged crime was not a random act of violence.
Harvey was charged with first-degree rape, second-degree rape, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, perverted practices and false imprisonment. He is also facing other related charges to the alleged crime.
Patrick McGrady is the incumbent mayor of Aberdeen, which started as a farming community in 1720. It was incorporated as a town in 1892 and as a city in 1992.
Born in Aberdeen, Michael D. Griffin, 73, served as the 11th administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration from April 13, 2005 to January 20, 2009. He was the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering of the U.S. from February 19, 2018 to July 10, 2020.
