Brazil’s Lula sworn in; Jair Bolsonaro rented Jose Aldo’s Orlando, Florida home?

“Lula” Luiz Inácio da Silva, 77, was sworn in as the 39th president of Brazil on January 1, 2023. He served as the country’s president from January 1, 2003 to December 31, 2010.

Lula’s inauguration ceremony was held at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Brasília, Federal District, Brazil. He arrived with his wife Rosângela da Silva, 56.

“Today, our message to Brazil is of hope and reconstruction,” Lula said during his speech. “If we are here today, it is thanks to the political conscience of Brazilian society and the democratic coalition that we built during the campaign.”

In the speech, Lula criticized the government of Jair Bolsonaro, 67, who served as the 38th president of Brazil from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2022. The new president accused the former president of using their country’s resources to give himself more power.

Bolsonaro did not attend the inauguration ceremony. A garbage collector handed the presidential sash to Lula because the outgoing president was not there to do so.

When Bolsonaro left Brazil on December 30, 2022, he did not specify his return date. Five civil servants were authorized to accompany him to Miami, Florida, United States from January 1-30, 2023.

The former president of Brazil is reportedly renting the vacation home of Brazilian professional mixed martial artist Jose Aldo, 36, in Orlando, Florida. The latter is fighting out of Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil.

Aldo made his professional MMA debut in 2004 and joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2011. His last fight was on August 20, 2022 at “UFC 278” in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.
