Ian Fried, 57, is a former resident of Washington, D.C., United States. He has lived in different parts of Illinois, USA including Highland Park and Chicago.
In May 2017, Homeland Security Investigations started investigating a group of people trading child sexual abuse material on an internet-based client-server chatting protocol. Between November 2018 through at least March 2020, Fried frequently used targeted networks to discuss, view and trade child pornography and child exploitation files.
On October 21, 2021, law enforcement obtained a warrant, authorizing the search of Fried’s residence. Authorities recovered a tablet, laptops and hard drives and other electronic devices from his residence.
On November 23, 2021, Fried was arrested in Arizona, USA. He has remained in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service ever since.
On July 28, 2022, Fried pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and receive child pornography. On January 13, 2023, Honorable Christopher R. Cooper sentenced him in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in Washington, D.C. to seven years in prison.
Cooper also ordered Fried to pay restitution to the victims of his criminal offense. Fried will be placed on 10 years of supervised release and required to register as a sex offender for 15 years upon completion of his prison term.
