Timothy Prescott Parson, 37, of Gastonia, Gaston County, North Carolina, United States is the former boyfriend of Ashley Erin Scoggins, 34, of Gastonia. She gave birth to their daughter in 2020.

In 2011, Scoggins gave birth to her son from a previous relationship. She is Ashley Scoggins‘ sister.

At around 7:30 p.m. on January 17, 2023, Parson repeatedly stabbed Ashley at a Silver Express convenience store in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. Wearing a red bandana on his head with a gray hoodie and tan pants, he left the parking lot in a dark gray Nissan Sentra, which was later found abandoned.

Ashley was transported to Atrium Health Kings Mountain in Kings Mountain. A short time later, she died in the hospital.

On January 18, 2023, Kings Mountain Police Department officers located and seized what they believed to be the Nissan Sentra abandoned by Parson. On January 19, 2023, he was found driving a BMW with Tracy Marie Hartis, 42, in the passenger seat during a traffic stop along Dixon School Road near I-85 in Kings Mountain.

Both Parson and Hartis were arrested. She was charged with obstruction of justice.
