Kayla Kelley of McKinney, Collin County, Texas, United States has died. She was 33.
Kelley and Ocastor Ferguson, 32, of Grand Prairie, Texas met online. In the summer of 2022, the started dating.
Ferguson introduced himself to Kelley as Kevin Brown. He also did not tell her about his wife.
Ferguson and Kelley would go to her residence in McKinney and other locations to meet but never to his home in Grand Prairie. When she learned his real identity and marital status, she told friends that she was going to blackmail him.
On January 4, 2023, Ferguson’s wife received a text message from an unknown person saying that the person needed to speak with her. She did not reply to the message.
On January 11, 2023, Kelley was reported missing by her coworkers who had not heard from her for several days. On January 12, 2023, her car was found abandoned and burned in Frisco, Texas.
On January 14, 2023, Ferguson was arrested and charged with kidnapping and arson. He is held in the Collin County Jail in McKinney on bonds totaling more than $1 million.
On January 18, 2023, Kelley’s body was discovered in Grand Prairie. The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office said the cause of death
Investigators found that a vehicle Ferguson’s wife had reported stolen was located near Kelley’s home in McKinney with a blanket, duct tape and gloves inside. They also found conversations between him and Kelley on his phone in which she had told him that she would tell his wife about their affair if he did not answer her.
