“OneShin” Shannon Wiratchai (ชนนภัทร วิรัชชัย), 34, of Bangkok, Thailand is back in action after going on hiatus for more than two years. He was one of the winners at the ONE Championship event “ONE Friday Fights 3“.
Featuring one kickboxing contests, three mixed martial arts matches and seven Muay Thai fights, “ONE Friday Fights 3” was held at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok on February 3, 2023. In the fifth bout of the evening, Wiratchai faced Puriya Golpour, 25, of Lahijan, Iran in an MMA fight in the featherweight division.
The featherweight contest ended after 4 minutes and 33 seconds in the first round. Wiratchai won via technical knockout.
Losing to Wiratchai downgraded Golpour’s professional MMA record to 4 wins and 3 losses. “ONE Friday Fights 3” marked Iranian MMA fighter’s ONE Championship debut.
On the other hand, Wiratchai now has 11 wins, 6 losses and 1 No Contest. Before “ONE Friday Fights 3”, he had eight ONE Championship wins.
Born in Bangkok, Wiratchai attended Chulalongkorn University Demonstration Secondary School and Chulalongkorn University, which are both in Bangkok. In 2011, he made his professional MMA debut.
In 2012, Wiratchai joined ONE Championship. He earned his first win in the promotion in 2013 when he knocked out Mitch Chilson in their rematch in Kallang, Singapore.
After going on hiatus in 2014, Wiratchai returned and enjoyed five consecutive wins in ONE Championship. He defeated Amir Khan on May 22, 2015, Kyal Linn Aung on May 27, 2016, Peter Davis on September 2, 2016, Richard Corminal on March 11, 2017 and Rajinder Singh Meena on August 5, 2017.
Still in ONE Championship, Wiratchai defeated Rahul Raju on March 24, 2018 and Fabio Pinca on August 21, 2020. Amid the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Wiratchai went on hiatus from 2021 to 2022.
On October 7, 2022, Wiratchai married yoga instructor Fay Lee. They started dating in 2020.
