Goshen, California’s Angel Uriarte, Noah David Beard accused of shooting Alissa Paraz, Nycholas Parraz, 4 others

Angel “Nanu” Uriarte, 35, and Noah David Beard, 25, are residents of Goshen, Tulare County, California, United States. They are both members of the Norteño gang, the rival of the Sureño gang.

In 1968, Mexican American inmates of the California state prison system separated into the Norteño and Sureño gangs. The Norteños are affiliated with Nuestra Familia while the Sureños are composed of members and affiliates of La Eme also known as the Mexican Mafia.

Angel Uriarte, Noah David Beard

In 2014, Uriarte was charged in Tulare County with assaulting a person with a handgun. After pleading no contest, he was sentenced to seven years in prison but served only about five years.

In 2016, Beard was arrested in Tulare County and charged with hit and run, driving a stolen car and obstructing a sheriff’s deputy. He pleaded no contest to hit and run so the other charges were dropped and he served 20 days in county jail.

In October 2021, Beard was arrested in Visalia, Tulare County and charged with carrying a handgun and cocaine. At the time of the arrest, he was a fugitive, having violated probation in Wyandotte County, Kansas, USA where he was convicted of aggravated robbery.

Alissa Parraz, Nycholas Nolan Parraz

Alissa Parraz, 16, lived in a house in Goshen with her paternal relatives including Rosa Parraz, 72, Eladio Parraz Jr., 52, and Marcos Parraz, 19. In March 2022, Alissa gave birth to Nycholas Nolan Parraz.

Goshen is considered the territory of the Norteño gang. At least two members of the Parraz family are members of the Sureño gang.

On January 15, 2023, Uriarte and Beard allegedly went to the house of the Parraz family in Goshen and fatally shot Alissa, Nycholas, Rosa, Eladio, Marcos and a family member’s close friend Jennifer Analla, 49. Three other people were also in the house but not shot.

According to investigators, Beard shot Alissa and Nycholas in the back of the head. He and Uriarte were not immediately named as suspects.

Since January 23, 2023, Uriarte and Beard had been under constant surveillance. On February 3, 2023, Uriarte was wounded after engaging in a gun battle with federal agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

On the same day, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of Uriarte and Beard. They have been each charged with six counts of murder and a series of special allegations including multiple murders and committing murders to further the activities of a criminal street gang.

Uriarte underwent surgery at a hospital. He is expected to survive.
