Arin Hankerd, 42, of Ormond Beach, Volusia County, Florida, United States worked at Atlantic High School in Port Orange, Volusia County as a football coach and a gym teacher. He is originally from Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan, USA.

In 2005, Hankerd graduated from Olivet College in Olivet, Eaton County, Michigan where he studied health and wellness. He started working at Atlantic High School on August 1, 2021.

In August 2022, Hankerd met a female Atlantic High School student, 15, in his physical education class. In December 2022, he allegedly started to buy her lunch and their relationship turned intimate.

In January 2023, Hankerd allegedly started having sex with the student. The teenage girl’s mother later found her diary that detailed the inappropriate relationship.

On February 10, 2023, the Port Orange Police Department learned of the allegations against Hankerd. On February 12, 2023, officers from the department arrested the Atlantic High School football coach while searching his home in Ormond Beach.

Hankerd was charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation, one count of traveling to meet a minor and computer lewd and lascivious exhibition, among others. His bond was set at $115,000 and Volusia County Schools suspended him pending the investigation’s outcome.
