Matthew Lee Rutter, 29, of Conneaut, Ashtabula County, Ohio, United States has been arrested. He was wanted by the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office and the Conneaut Police Department for rape and three counts of gross sexual imposition.

Rutter is 6’0″ tall. His registered weight is 180 pounds.

Originally from West Springfield, Pennsylvania, USA, Rutter moved to Conneaut on January 6, 2020. From January 11, 2017 through January 10, 2019, he allegedly raped a minor and had sexual contact with a minor.

In July 2022, members of the U.S. Marshal Service‘s Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force started looking for Rutter. That month, he disappeared.

Before being tracked to Florida, USA, Rutter was seen in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, USA. On February 14, 2023, members of the USMS’s Florida-Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force found Rutter in Ocala National Forest in Florida. He was hiding in an Astro van in the forest.

Conneaut is home to the Lake Erie Correctional Institution. The city is around 1,050 miles away from the Ocala National Forest.

Sine 1992, Conneaut has been operated under a council-manager government. The late football player Larry Kelley, he late baseball player Mike Palagyi and the late businessman Douglas Tompkins were all born in the city.
