Michigan State Police troopers arrest Alpena, Michigan’s Garrick Madison

Garrick Scott Madison, 33, of Alpena, Michigan, United States is accused of inappropriately touching a child on video. In June 2022, Michigan State Police started investigating a tip involving the video.

With a search warrant, the computer crimes division of Michigan State Police seized several electronic devices from Madison and conducted a forensic analysis of the files they contain. They found images of him performing sex acts on his digital devices.


On February 16, 2023, the Alpena County Prosecutor’s Office authorized charges against Madison. He was arraigned on one count of aggravated child sexually abusive activity, two counts of using a computer to commit a crime and three counts of aggravated child sexually abusive material possession.

On February 18, 2023, Michigan State Police troopers arrested Madison at his residence in Alpena. He was booked into the Alpena County Jail in Alpena.

Bond was set for Madison at $250,00. On March 7, 2023, he will attend a court hearing.


Settled in 1835, Alpena was was originally part of Anomickee County founded in 1840. It was incorporated as a city on March 29, 1871.

Former Major League Baseball infielder Dan Rohn, 67, “Charmed” actor Michael Bailey Smith, 65, and former MLB pitcher Blaise Ilsley, 58, were born in Alpena. Matthew J. “Matt” Waligora, 56, is the incumbent mayor of the city.
