Hatboro, Pennsylvania’s Rita Frances Bellew: ‘I’m profoundly sorry’

Rita Frances Bellew, 55, is a certified public accountant born and raised in Hatboro, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. Her father Ira Thomas Bellew Sr., 89, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, which was fought between North Korea and South Korea from 1950 to 1953.

On August 24, 2022, Pennsylvania representative Nancy Guenst awarded Ira the Korean Peace Medal. The awarding ceremony was attended by his wife and Daesup Chung, the head consul of the Consular Office of the Republic of Korea in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

On February 23, 2023, Rita was caught on camera going on a racist rant inside Amy’s Family Pizzeria in Hatboro. She berated the pizzeria’s co-owner Omar Quiñonez.

After hearing Spanish playing on a television inside the pizzeria, Rita questioned Quiñonez about his immigration status. She told him, “What’s wrong with that is you’re not American, dude.”

“I will look you the f–k up and get you the f–k out of our town,” Rita told Quiñonez. “F–k you. Give me my money back. I’m not giving my money to some illegal immigrant.”

Quiñonez questioned how Rita knew that he was an illegal immigrant. She answered, “You got Spanish on your TV.”

“That’s a ‘f–k you’ to Americans, dude,” Rita continued. “My father was a World War II veteran, okay? His friends and family died so you could sit here right now and make money and you’re going to do this kind of s–t?”

Hatboro Police Department officer Brett Paul arrived at the pizzeria to deescalate the dispute with Rita. When she learned she was barred from the pizzeria, she just shrugged and said, “I’m white.”

“I’m white,” Rita repeated. “I’m racist. I’m too damn white.”

After a video of Rita’s racist rant inside Amy’s Family Pizzeria went viral, she was interviewed by The Philadelphia Inquirer. She claimed that one week before the incident, her father had been in and out of the hospital while she was being treated for breast cancer.

“I’m profoundly sorry,” Rita told the publication. “I don’t want to make excuses.”

Rita went on to say she was not a racist then described herself as conservative but not necessarily a supporter of Donald Trump. On March 3, 2023, she was charged with ethnic intimidation and harassment.

    • You can say whatever you want but with some things there are consequences. For example, people can freely say they’re going to kill someone but there are consequence with saying that. Or telling someone they’re going to rob a bank. As a child if I said anything disrespectful to my parents I would be grounded. Say whatever you want, Tommy. It’s free.
It’s all common sense really. Get some. Adult up.

    • Here’s the one thing most Americans don’t understand about the 1st amendment, freedom of speech. Of course we have freedom of speech but there is also the freedom to respond to one’s free speech, so don’t get so upset if someone uses their free speech to respond to another’s free speech and it doesn’t go well. Just take and whatever comes with it.

Perhaps, you need to understand free speech.

    • I don’t think you understand the Constitutional definition of “free speech,” Tom. “Freedom of speech” does not mean you can say whatever you, whenever you want, wherever you want, at whomever you want, without suffering any consequences.

Clearly you skipped the lecture on the topic when it was taught in your social studies classes in high school.

  2. Tom Lloyd, it is to her. She’s telling him he doesn’t have to right to speak or even listen to the Spanish language. Plus she threatens him to look him the f up and kick him out of the country.

  3. Threats, profane verbal abuse, and harassment over something as simple as hearing Spanish on a tv… how sophomoric and childish.

  4. She’s definitely a Trump red hat fanatic and Tucker Carlson viewer. Anyone not white is a “racist” according to Trump and Carlson. Ironic that she’s touting her father as a Korean War veteran. According to her own political side – her elderly father is a “warmonger”. The red hats hate our veterans.
