Kokshetau, Kazakhstan’s Shavkat Rakhmonov earns 5th UFC win, submits Geoff Neal in Paradise, Nevada

“Nomad” Shavkat Rakhmonov, 28, of Kokshetau, Akmola Region, Kazakhstan is still undefeated. The Kazakh mixed martial artist was one of the winners at the Ultimate Fighting Championship event “UFC 285” at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Clark County, Nevada, United States.

“UFC 285” featured 14 MMA matches. In the 12th bout of the evening, Rakhmonov fought “Handz of Steel” Geoff Neal, 32, of Harker Heights, Bell County, Texas, USA at a catch weight of 175 pounds. The latter had missed weight.

Herb Dean served as the referee of the catchweight bout and stopped the fight after 4 minutes and 17 seconds. Rakhmonov submitted Neal via rear-naked choke, which downgraded Neal’s professional MMA record to 15 wins and 5 losses.

On the other hand, Rakhmonov now has 17 wins and 0 loss. “UFC 285” marked his fifth fight and fifth win in the UFC.

A total of 16 countries and territories were represented at “UFC 285” namely Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Guam, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Peru, Poland, South Africa, Tajikistan and the U.S. Rakhmonov solely represented Kazakhstan.

Born in Shor’chi, Uzbekistan to Kazakh parents, Rakhmonov is a master of sport in MMA and combat sambo. He is 6’1″ tall and he competes in the welterweight division.

As an amateur MMA fighter, Rakhmonov won world and Asian titles in the World Mixed Martial Arts Association from 2013 to 2015. He made his professional MMA debut on October 17, 2014.

Before joining the UFC in 2020, Rakhmonov competed in M-1 Challenge and Kazakhstan Mixed Martial Arts Federation. The first four UFC opponents he defeated are Alex Oliveira, Michel Prazeres, Carlston Harris and Neil Magny.
