Jamaal Germany, 30, of Gaithersburg, Montgomery County, Maryland, United States allegedly tried to kidnap a child aged 11 to 13 on March 20, 2023. The child is attending Redland Middle School in Rockville, Montgomery County.
At 7:20 a.m. that day, Germany grabbed the child who was waiting at a bus stop with friends. The bus stop is at the intersection of Towne Crest Drive and Towne Crest Court in Gaithersburg.
Germany pulled the child towards an apartment building but other students who witnessed what happened jumped in. With the help of the other students, the victim was able to break free and was not harmed.
The students reported the incident to staff members at Redland Middle School who notified the school’s community engagement officer. After being notified by the school, the Montgomery County Police Department immediately started investigating.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified Germany as the suspect. He was arrested and transported to the he Central Processing Unit within the Montgomery County Detention Center in Rockville.
Bond information for Germany is not yet available. The motive for the attempted abduction is still unclear.
Days before the crime, Germany caused problems for the community in Gaithersburg. He and the child he allegedly tried to kidnap did not know each other.
