That day,  supporters breached the building while a joint session of Congress was certifying the vote of the Electoral College and affirming Joe Biden‘s victory in the 2020 presidential election. During the riot, he pushed and grabbed U.S. Capitol Police officers who were holding a police line in an arched entranceway on the building’s lower west terrace. He was hit by officers’ batons.
