Emily Shay Walker, 23, is a physical education teacher at Frederick County Middle School in Winchester, Frederick County, Virginia, United States. She also serves as a basketball coach at the school.

In 2022, Walker allegedly started an inappropriate relationship with a male student, then 12, who was attending Frederick County Middle School. On more than one occasion, he allegedly kissed her on school property.

Recently, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office received a report about the allegation and started investigating Walker. Evidence of hundreds of text messages exchanged between the teacher and the student were found.

Eventually, the conversation between Walker and the boy escalated to expectations of physical contact. On March 23, 2023, she voluntarily turned herself in.

Walker was booked into the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Facility in Winchester. She was charged with a felony of taking indecent liberties with a child.

Winchester is the county seat of Frederick County. Founded in 1744, the city is home to several companies including American Woodmark, Rubbermaid Commercial Products and Trex.

John David Smith Jr. is the incumbent mayor of Winchester. Soccer players Devon McTavish, 38, and John Gilkerson, 37, were both born in the city.
