  2. He and his wife Maryanne Honeycutt Elliott supported Muslim Americans for Compassion and Doctors for Healthy Communities. She is the daughter of Dr. Roy Honeycutt and June Honeycutt.
  3. He was the stepfather of Maryanne and John Dotson‘s daughters Emily Dotson and Katherine Dotson.
  4. In 1977, he graduated from Elizabethtown High School in Elizabethtown.
  5. In 1981, he graduated from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky.
  6. In 1988, his daughter Katherine Elizabeth Elliott was born.
  7. In 1989, his daughter Claire R. Elliott was born.
  8. On December 10, 2005, he and Maryanne got married.
  9. He was a close friend of Andy Beshear, who assumed office on December 10, 2019 as the 63rd governor of Kentucky, and Craig Greenberg, who assumed office on January 2, 2023 as the 51st mayor of Louisville.
  10. At 8:38 a.m. on April 10, 2023, he was fatally shot by Connor Sturgeon at the Old National Bank on East Main Street in Louisville. He was 63.
