Francisco “Frank” Perez, 42, is a deputy in Fresno County, California, United States. At the end of 2022, he allegedly contacted a teenage girl for sexual purposes.
After receiving a report about the allegation, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office immediately launched an investigation. Investigators found no evidence to prove any physical contact happened between the deputy and the teenage girl, who is under the age of 18.
On March 30, 2023, Perez was put on administrative leave. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office described the incident as a private, sensitive matter and did not reveal specific details as to what occurred.
Perez was arrested and charged with contacting a minor with intent to commit a sex crime and a misdemeanor charge of annoying a minor. The former is a felony and the latter is a misdemeanor.
Bail for Perez was set at $20,000. He was booked into the Fresno County Jail in Fresno, California.
“Our office has a zero-tolerance policy for misconduct and any allegations of it are treated as a top priority,” Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni stated. “You have our department’s full commitment to continue this mission and I encourage everyone to report any concerns to us you may have right away.”
