Carl D. Markley, 44, of Ames, Story County, Iowa, United States is a nurse practitioner. He is also one of the owners of Inside Golf and Perfect Games, an indoor golf business at the North Grand Mall in Ames.

Markley is accused of sexually abusing a child. He allegedly took photos during a physical examination he conducted on a minor and told the minor the examination was needed to be offered a job at his business.

The Ames Police Department received a tip from a concerned citizen regarding potential child sexual abuse involving Markley. The department conducted an extensive investigation into the allegations.

On April 28, 2023, Ames Police Department officers arrested Markley at the North Grand Mall. He was booked into the Story County Jail in Nevada, Story County.

When investigators searched Markley’s residence and business in Ames, they found a hidden camera clock and pen, among several other electronic devices. The devices allegedly had pornographic content including images of individuals taken by covert means in his clinic.

The nurse practitioner is being held without bond. He was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor, a class C felony.
